The transmission

The chain, cassette and derailleurs must be cleaned and lubricated regularly to avoid premature wear.

Simple maintenance allows for:

Braking

Brakes are the most important safety element.

It is advisable to check:

• the wear of the pads or shoes

• the braking power

• the condition of the discs

A change in braking feel? Maintenance is required.An annual bleed of the hydraulic brake systems is highly recommended.

The steering and tightness

With vibrations, some components may loosen over time, it is important to check.

For the steering:

• a good alignment with the front wheel

• no play

• a good fluidity of rotation

For the entire bike:

• the tightness of the entire bike (saddle, handlebars, stem, pivot points, cranksets, discs...)

• the condition and alignment of the wheels

• the tension of the spokes

Regular cleaning and inspection

Dust, mud, and moisture accelerate the wear of parts.

Regular cleaning allows:

• to protect the mechanical components

• to quickly identify a worn or damaged part

• to maintain the bike's performance.

A periodic review

Even with good regular maintenance, a bike deserves a complete review once or twice a year depending on usage.

This is particularly important for:

• Bikes equipped with hydraulic disc brakes

• electric bikes (motor, sensors, more stressed transmission)

• suspended mountain bikes (suspension maintenance is essential every year)

• bikes used daily.
